SS 904L has high chromium (19–23%), nickel (23–28%), molybdenum (4–5%), and copper (1–2%) contents, which impart greater resistance to sulfuric and reducing acids. These flanges possess tensile strength of 490 MPa, yield strength of 220 MPa, and good ductility and toughness. They are pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking resistant, suitable for severe service conditions. Austenitic structure of these flanges makes them good formability and weldability.
