Stainless Steel 416HT pipes are manufactured in Delhiand India for applications needing high strength, good machinability, and moderate corrosion resistance. Grade 416HT is a heat-treated version of martensitic stainless steel 416, offering better mechanical properties and hardness. These pipes are typically used in industrial and mechanical systems that involve gears, valves, shafts, and piping that experience wear and machining. They come in seamless and welded forms, produced under ASTM A312 standards with strict dimensional control. SS 416HT pipes are supplied with mill testing and certification, ensuring reliability for structural and pressure-containing applications.
SS 416HT is a high-hardness version of SS 416, containing 12–14% chromium, ≤0.15% carbon, and around 0.3% sulfur to enhance machinability. After heat treatment, tensile strength reaches 700–880 MPa, yield strength is about 450 MPa, with reduced ductility (elongation ~15%). The heat treatment greatly increases hardness and wear resistance. While its corrosion resistance is lower than austenitic grades, it works well in non-aggressive indoor or slightly corrosive settings. 416HT is magnetic and suitable for high-precision mechanical applications that need dimensional accuracy and surface hardness.
