With iron serving as the base, stainless steel 347H Stud Bolts are made of chromium (17–20%), nickel (9–13%), carbon (0.04–0.10%), and niobium (columbium) for stabilisation. Excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation and intergranular corrosion is provided by this composition. Mechanically, they offer elongation of at least 35%, yield strength of about 205 MPa, and tensile strength of about 515 MPa. With improved creep and stress rupture characteristics, 347H, a high-carbon version of 347, is appropriate for continuous use in environments with temperatures above 538°C.
