Stainless Steel 347 Pipe Fittings are specially designed components made from stabilized austenitic stainless steel, offering remarkable resistance to intergranular corrosion, particularly after welding or when exposed to high temperatures. With the addition of columbium (niobium) and tantalum, SS 347 boasts enhanced stability and effectively prevents carbide precipitation during welding. This makes it a fantastic choice for applications that experience repeated thermal cycles or stress. These pipe fittings play a crucial role in connecting, controlling, or redirecting fluid flow in systems that require both corrosion resistance and structural integrity at elevated temperatures, ensuring they last long and perform reliably in tough environments.
The chemical makeup of Stainless Steel 347 consists of 17–19% chromium, 9–13% nickel, and columbium/tantalum for stabilization against carbide formation. It has a maximum carbon content of 0.08%, which, along with the stabilizing elements, boosts its resistance to sensitization. SS 347 features a tensile strength of around 515 MPa and a yield strength of about 205 MPa, along with excellent elongation and good creep resistance at temperatures reaching up to 870°C (1600°F). These mechanical properties, combined with its good formability and weldability, make SS 347 a robust and versatile choice for high-temperature and corrosive fluid-handling systems.
