For increased stability at high temperatures, stainless steel 316Ti pipe fittings are alloyed with 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2–3% molybdenum, and titanium (usually 0.5%). By stabilising the alloy against sensitisation, the titanium addition improves resistance to intergranular corrosion. These fittings have outstanding mechanical qualities, such as a yield strength of 240 MPa, a tensile strength of about 550 MPa, and good elongation up to 45%. The material is appropriate for pressure systems and harsh chemical environments because it retains its strength and resistance to corrosion at high temperatures.
