Stainless Steel 316L stud bolts are produced in Delhiand India for highly corrosive applications like marine, chemical, and food processing industries. SS 316L is the low-carbon version of 316 with high corrosion resistance and weldability, particularly in chloride-rich environments. They are best suited for applications with high strength, durability, and low possibility of intergranular corrosion after welding. Produced to ASTM A193 specification, 316L stud bolts are offered in numerous thread forms and sizes. Supplied with precision machining, corrosion-resisting finishes, and full traceability, they are for use in high-integrity bolted connections.
SS 316L is composed of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, 2–3% molybdenum, and ≤0.03% carbon. The lower carbon content improves resistance to sensitization after welding. These bolts provide tensile strength between 485–620 MPa, yield strength between 170–210 MPa, and elongation of 35%. The molybdenum provides improved resistance to pitting as well as crevice corrosion in the chloride-containing environments. SS 316L also serves very well under moderate temperatures and is not magnetic in the annealed state, providing reliable strength and corrosion protection in severe structural applications.

316L stud bolts have large applications in marine equipment, chemical plants, food-grade machinery, pharmaceutical reactors, and heat exchangers. Their corrosion resistance against rust and chemical attack qualifies them for use to fasten flanges, pumps, and valves under corrosive service conditions. SS 316L bolts are also very popular in welded structures, since the low carbon composition negates the requirement for post-weld heat treatment. These fasteners find application in offshore platforms, sewage treatment facilities, and desalination plants. Their mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and durability provide a tight fit and long service life in challenging conditions.
