Stainless Steel 316 valves are produced in Dubai and India for the control of fluids in hostile environments where resistance to corrosion is essential. Constructed using molybdenum-containing austenitic stainless steel, SS 316 valves are famous for their durability, strength, and superior performance in chloride-containing and acid systems. In ball, gate, globe, check, and butterfly types, these valves meet the specifications of ASTM and API. They can be used in chemical plants, food processing plants, marine applications, and pharmaceutical facilities. With excellent design and sealing strength, SS 316 valves are leak-proof in low- and high-pressure systems of flow.
SS 316 valves consist of 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum, with ≤0.08% carbon. The addition of molybdenum increases resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and hostile chemical conditions. These valves have tensile strength 515–620 MPa and yield strength approximately 205 MPa with an elongation of up to 35%. SS 316 can withstand high temperatures and does not lose structural features when subjected to corrosive environments. Its good weldability, ductility, and non-magnetic property in the annealed state make it suitable for equipment used in process applications under thermal and chemical stress.
