Stainless Steel 316 Flanges comprise iron alloyed with 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and 2–3% molybdenum. The molybdenum addition confers pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in hostile environments. The flanges have tensile strength between 515–690 MPa and yield strength of 205 MPa, in addition to good ductility and toughness. They possess a high melting temperature of approximately 1375°C and feature superior formability and weldability.
