ER308/308L consists of 19–21% chromium, 9–11% nickel, and ≤0.03% carbon. The low carbon content prevents sensitization during welding and maintains its excellent corrosion resistance. The filler metal provides tensile strength of ≥75 ksi, yield strength of ≥55 ksi, and elongation of ≥30%. It is non-magnetic and produces strong, ductile welds with little spatter and good bead profiles. This filler metal works exceptionally well in both TIG and MIG applications, ensuring reliable results for a variety of stainless steel assemblies exposed to mild corrosion.
