The higher carbon content in ER308H enhances performance at elevated temperatures, making it suitable for boilers, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.
ER308/308H has 19–21% chromium, 9–11% nickel, and 0.04–0.08% carbon. The increased carbon boosts creep strength and structural integrity at high temperatures. It offers tensile strength of ≥80 ksi, yield strength of ≥60 ksi, and elongation of ≥30%. ER308H maintains good weld toughness and ductility while enduring thermal cycling. It creates clean, crack-free welds with minimal porosity in both TIG and MIG processes. It is especially suitable for high-temperature welding of 304H stainless steels, combining corrosion resistance and strength with reliable weld quality.
