Stainless Steel 348 Pipe Fittings are produced from a columbium (niobium) stabilized austenitic stainless steel alloy with about 18–20% chromium, 8–11% nickel, trace amounts of carbon, manganese, and silicon. This composition provides greater resistance to intergranular corrosion and oxidation up to 870°C (1600°F). The mechanical characteristics are tensile strength of 515–690 MPa, yield strength of 205 MPa, and elongation of approximately 40%. High weldability, formability, and thermal stability of the alloy render it suitable for high-stress and high-temperature conditions.
