ER317L is made up of 18–20% chromium, 13–15% nickel, 3–4% molybdenum, and ≤0.03% carbon. The higher molybdenum content provides better resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in environments with high chloride levels. It has a tensile strength of ≥75 ksi, yield strength of ≥55 ksi, and elongation of ≥30%. ER317L maintains the strength and toughness of welds even in aggressive conditions and during thermal cycling. This filler wire offers smooth control of the arc and excellent wetting during both MIG and TIG processes. Its low carbon content minimizes the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding, even in critical service conditions.
