SS 442 alloy bolts have 18–20% chromium, low nickel, and traces of molybdenum. They provide tensile strength of 450–550 MPa, yield strength of about 250–300 MPa, and retain performance up to 600 °C. The ferritic structure provides oxidation resistance, good thermal fatigue characteristics, and low expansion factors. The bolts are easy to machine and install with stable mechanical behavior in high-temperature conditions.
